Is that a strange statement? Have I got the date wrong? Is it just because I didn't see [all of] you on Easter Day? No. I'm saying it because it is still Easter. Not in the sense that our children are still slowly wading their way through their Easter eggs. Rather, because the Easter season lasts seven weeks. And even our children should have finished their eggs by then. In another respect, though, it's always Easter for the Christian. The early Church moved the sabbath from Saturday to Sunday in honour of the Resurrection. So you could say that every weekend when we gather for worship we are celebrating Easter. In fact the whole Christian life is about meeting the risen Christ. Which is exactly what happens to the disciples in this account from Luke's Gospel. And while they met the risen Christ in the flesh unlike us there are still some pointers in this story to ways in which we do.
